What are the requirements?

To get your Entry Level MMC, you will need to meet the requirements on the Coast Guard form:

https://www.dco.uscg.mil/Portals/9/NMC/pdfs/checklists/mcp_fm_nmc5_56_web.pdf The Coast Guard uses this form as a checklist to make sure that:

  • You are a US Citizen or are approved to work in the US.
  • You agree to allow the Coast Guard to do a background check
  • You are at least 16 years old (under 18 requires a notarized statement of parental/guardian consent)
  • You provide a negative drug test for dangerous drugs
  • You submit the mariners oath, witnessed and notarized by a notary
