Does the USCG accept CPR and First Aid from an EMS Safety?
Yes, but you need to make sure your document has the specific course code (AMESHI-197) on it if you took it before 12/31/2022 and (HSINST-203) if you took it after then. This is found on the USCG/NMC-approved “Recognition of Participation” (ROP) document for HSI / American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) / Medic First Aid / EMS Safety.

CPR and First Aid courses taken from an HSI / American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) / Medic First Aid / EMS Safety provider are accepted by the USCG but getting the right documentation sometimes causes confusion.
The USCG will only accept a USCG Approved Course Certificate with the specific course code (AMESHI-197) on it if you took it before 12/31/2022 and (HSINST-203) if you took it after 1/1/2023 for HSI / American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) / Medic First Aid / EMS Safety. They will not accept just a copy of your CPR/ FA card.
How do I get my USCG/NMC-approved “Recognition of Participation” (ROP) document that has the code (HSINST-203) on it from my HSI / American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) / Medic First Aid / EMS Safety Provider?
You need to ask your instructor to take the following steps and provide you with a USCG/NMC-approved “Recognition of Participation” (ROP) document that has the code (HSINST-203) on it.
Log into their instructor portal
Locate the ASHI and MEDIC First Aid USCG ROPs inside their instructor portal
Download the ASHI and MEDIC First Aid USCG ROPs inside their instructor portal
Email you the pdf of the USCG/NMC-approved “Recognition of Participation” (ROP) document
Here’s a blog post from ASHI for your instructor if they run into any issues: https://emergencycare.hsi.com/blog/adhering-to-program-approval-stipulations-why-it-matters
You know you have the right thing when it has your name, the code HSINST-203, the date you completed the course and your instructor's name on it.
I've got my USCG/NMC-approved “Recognition of Participation” (ROP) document that has the code (HSINST-203) on it now what do I do?
